Stine Marie Jacobsen (born in
Sønderborg, Denmark in 1977) is a Danish artist.
She received a BFA from CalArts (Los Angeles) in 2007 and a
MFA from
The Royal Danish Art Academy in 2009.
Stine Marie Jacobsen is an artist working with video,
performance, curating,
writing, and drawings. Her projects focus on investigating
subjectivity and
narrative structures through popular ideas of subjectivity
and representation
of self. Through very humorous performances she suggests an
expanded notion
of self. Modern subjectivity research informs that identity
is a neurological
illusion and is created from the narrations we attach to
it. Stine Marie Jacobsen
deconstructs these narrations in her art and enables the
possibility of a different
approach to identity. Her multidisciplinary practice
interweaves personal and
cultural media history with fictionalized and circumstances
in a manner that
constantly blurs the line between the artist as individual
and the artist as a
self-consciuosly contstructed persona.
Stine Marie Jacobsen is currently based in Copenhagen,
Denmark.
