blackfriday

(Tshirt print by Jackson Fledermaus, 2008)

Introducing an annual and until our death December event agreement between

American artist John Burtle and Danish Artist Stine Marie Jacobsen. The events

will be simultaneously taking place depending on where the artists are residing.

We invited american artist Jackson Fledermaus make something for our first

December event exhibition in 2008. Fledermaus decided to design a t-shirt

print for us both to wear for x-mas. Fledermaus made the print in loving memory

of the Walmart worker Jdimytai Damour, who was trampled to death by shoppers

in a Walmart in Valley Stream, N.Y. on the 28th of November 2008.

"Ugly shopping scenes, a few involving injuries, have become commonplace

during the bargain-hunting ritual known as Black Friday, the day after Federation,

said it had never heard of a worker being Thanksgiving. The nation's largest retail

group, the National Retail killed on
Black Friday."

In 2009 we featured 34 artists that had been asked to send out postcards to a

recipients chosen by the other 'coupled' artist. Please see here for pictures.
